Commander's News/Notes... (Nov/Dec 2009) I want to start out with a huge "THANKS" to Bill St. Gemme for filling in at the last meeting for me. I was a little under the weather. Also a SPECIAL "THANKS" to ton Stacye for taking over the Labor Day Cook Out and handling everything I was still not feeling well, and without his help, we may not have got things done. There were many others I have mentioned on the Thank You page that saved the day for the Post. Thanks to all of you. We had our POW/MIA Ceremony on Friday the 18th if September. This year we were honored to have Major General John Lacy, retired USAF to present POW ribbons to the ex-POW's that were present. Our own member Gene Martin knew General Lacy and invited him to attend, Thanks Gene. Thanks to John and Ginny Smithburg for all their help in finding the ex-POW's and inviting them to our ceremony. We also had our own it. SGT First Class Bob Hoffman in uniform to assist the general. I believe we had the largest crowd ever to attend and that this was the best ceremony we have ever had. 'Thanks to all who helped make this a great event. I WANT ALL OF OUR MEMBERS, FRIENDS, FAMILY TO REMEMBER THAT DECEMBER 7TH IS THE DAY PEARL HARBOR WAS BOMBED BY THE JAPS. THIS SHOULD BE A DAY THAT WE NEVER FORGET. AGAIN THIS YEAR WE WILL HAVE A REMEMBERANCE BREAKFAST AT THE POST FROM 7A.M. TILL 10 A.M. PLEASE TRY TO BE HERE. WE WILL HAVE A MOMENT OF SILENCE, THE TIME OF THE FIRST ATTACK IN MEMORY OF ALL OUR LOST COMRADES. The Post will have our annual Christmas Dinner on Sunday the 20th of December at 11:30. The Post will provide the main food items and we ask that each of you bring a covered dish, salad or desert. I am sure there will be a visit from Santa around 1:00 pm with gifts for the children. At least, that is what he said last time I talked to him. Please be sure you read the notice of meeting time change elsewhere in this newsletter. Come by your Post and visit or have a nice meal at a very reasonable price. The coffee pot is always on and it is free.
