LADIES AUXILIARY NOTES...
"Hello Everyone"
We haven't had much going on this time to talk about. My ladies have been to Mt. Vernon Veterans home twice and really enjoyed visiting with our adopted lady veterans. We will be going again on Thursday, Sept 30th. If you would like to ride with us please call me 890-1848, for more information.
On Sunday, August 8th, we had our Breakfast Brunch, with 100% of the proceeds — $1002.00— donated to the "OZARKS HONOR FLIGHT" . It was a HUGE success. Thank You to "The Veteran's Café, Ron Stacye" for his preparation, cooking time and donation of all the food product. Krispy 'Creme, St. Georges Donuts, and LaMars Donuts provided all the nice pastries. Our ladies provided the egg casseroles and fresh fruit. Thanks to ALL that had a hand in "spreading the work—publicity wise". GOOD JOB LADIES 11
Be sure to watch for and mark your calendars for coming events:
September 12th— BBQ Chicken Dinner
11:30-1:30 pm
$6.00 donation
October 10th—Bean Extravaganza
11:30-1:30 pm
$5.00 donation
And last but not least: Mark your calendar for the ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DINNER served on November 21st, 11:30-1:30 pm, $7.00 donation. This is always our big fund raiser for the CANCER AID and RESEARCH PROJECT.
Please come by and visit your POST 3404 anytime and we look forward to seeing your smiling faces at our Sunday Dinners in the future.

VETERAN'S HOME MT. VERNON MISSOURI
By Joye Kane
Space does not permit for the many words needed to describe the lady Veteran's who reside at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Mt. Vernon. The ladies served in the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force. Several were nurses and one was in Supply. They retired with ranks from Buck Private, Corporal, to 2nd. Lieutenant. Birthdates are mostly in the 1920's and their birthplaces range from New York to Springfield, MO. We only had six in attendance as the others were ill or had doctor appointments. Those present were Bertha Johnson, Jeanne B. Daley, Virginia Brown, Helen Knowles and Iva King. Jeanne traveled to several bases to help with the closing when the bases were deactivated at the end of WWII. We served refreshments and visited for two hours. These visits have become a monthly trip and other Auxiliary members who would like to go are welcome. Many of them sew, make the crocheted kitchen, hanging, towels, jewelry, quilts and other crafts. If any of our Post members want to contribute items for these ladies or stamps; just give them to our Commander or to an Auxiliary member. Also, homemade cookies!! We honor the Ladies for serving our Country in time of war!
Join the Auxiliary and visit these wonderful Veterans that served our country. Be at the POST at 9am so to arrive at Mt. Vernon by 10 am on the last Thursday of each month. Next trip is October 28, (November is canceled due to Thanksgiving Holiday), December 20 and the last Thursday of each month in the new year.
Help show them we care!

MEN'S AUXILIARY NOTES...
Summer is nearing the end and fall is just around the corner, hope everyone is looking forward to cooler weather.
It's been pretty much a quiet summer around here. The Auxiliary will be holding a raffle for a surround sound system beginning in September and running till the Christmas Dinner at the Post. So be sure to Watch for details in the coming future.
We received an updated membership roster recently, and it really didn't look good. We have 15 members on the roster and only 10 that have paid for 2010. The State will be sending out the 2011 dues anytime and are due by the first of the year.
The Auxilliary meets the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.
